I am a certified EB Dabarkads. I love watching Eat Bulaga and basically grew up along with the stars of the show.
Even my style of humor is influenced by TVJ. Oh hah, grabe nang pasenti itech.
I even created Ebdabarkads.multiply.com although I've been more busy with my blogspot-based blogs lately that's why I have not updated it from quite sometime. Well, just want to inform everyone that EB will be on it's 31st year tomorrow! (Matanda pa ang show sa misis ko, anyenyee!)
Not to mislead you guys, this show is actually about pop sensation Aiza Seguerra who will perform hits like “Runaway,” “Almost Over You” and “A Thousand Miles” from her newest album “Perhaps Love" tomorrow (July 31) at Gateway Mall. I can't believed that from a kid who popularized the "duck walk," she would become a great and successful singer in and outr of the country.
Fans who buy her new CD will get to meet and greet Aiza. That's autograph and picture! picture! session. Show starts at 5 pm. Now, how can i catch the show when I'll be going out from work at 6:pm and will be coming from a remote area in Mandaluyong City? Kalungkot, isn't it? :-(

FREE Jeepney Rides in Quezon City
Two weeks ago, my wife and I finally fulfilled a year-old dream: to finally take a FREE ride from Araneta Gateway Mall to the New Alimall!
You see, it has been that long since we wanted to experience how it's like riding in that "weird looking" but cool jeepney that we always see every time we spend a weekend in Cubao. Ansaya not because it's FREE but it's like a mission accomplished and made us feel that we are now certified Cubao window shoppers!
Then I saw this news from Inquirer.net of another FREE jeepney ride for residences of Quezon City as part of the Go Green project of the local government.
E-jeeps will be bringing passengers (1) from Barangay Vasra to Kalayaan Avenue near the Hall of Justice and vice versa from 7 am - 9 am and (2) Kalayaan Avenue to the Elliptical Road, Quezon Avenue and the North Avenue MRT station from 5 pm - 8 pm. This one-month pilot test will run until August 20, 2010. Kaya sabi nga ni Tita Shawie before, "sakay na!"

Oishi Gourmet Picks Photo Contest
When I was in grade school, one of my favorite snacks during recess are those curls and sticks in a small pack that are bought in sari-sari stores for only one peso.
I really miss those stuff --- Rin Bee, Poms Poms, Chiz It and of course, Oishi prawn crackers. Actually, they did not really go but instead they evolved into munchies in bigger sizes.
One example is Oishi's new products called Gourmet Picks in Sea Salt, Wasabi and Kim chi flavor. Honestly I haven't tried any of them yet but will definitely have a bite s o on since there is an exciting photo contest that Oishi is running until September 7, 2010 where winners can win iPad, Samsung Omnia, PS3 and other exciting prizes!
Well, the requirement is you need to have their product in the photo and needs to follow the different themes. Deadline for every theme is every two weeks.
For the complete mechanics and list of the theme, just click HERE.

FREE Oreo Snack Pack
My son Charles loves cookies and milk for breakfast but I have yet to teach him how to dunk the former to the later. Although he already knows how to dunk his mini basketball top his mini hoop at home.
You see, whenever he sees any liquid inside a cup he tends to put his hands inside and play with it. End result is mess, mess, mess. My wife and I can only look at each other while letting Charles in his simple joy.
But I might start teaching him how to dunk an Oreo unto a glass of milk this weekend since I'll be getting a pack of Oreo courtesy of their recent promo. To get your own Oreo snack pack, just register HERE.

FREE Film Mentoring Workshop with Brillante Mendoza
Every time I hear the name Brillante Mendoza, I can't help but feel proud of being a Filipino.
Here's a short write-up about this great Pinoy movie director just in case you've been living under a rock: Mendoza has directed nine films since 2005 and two of those brought back the Philippines in the world map in terms of filmmaking . He won the award for Best Director for his film Kinatay at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival. His latest film "Lola" won best film award at the 6th Dubai International Film Festival.
What I like more about Mendoza is he is happy to share his world-class talent to fellow film enthusiast for FREE via ABS-CBN Foundation, Inc.'s Film Mentoring Workshop for Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig along with ABS-CBN Foundation resident director Caloy Santos Jr. Both of them will be on hand to guide the participants on conceptdevelopment, scriptwriting, actual shooting and post-production.
It is primarily targeted for students as part of the school-based volunteer program for Kapit Bisig Para Sa Ilog Pasig but the group decided to open this learning session to non-students who are willing to attend the five-Saturday workshop. At the end of the activity, participants are expected to turn out a documentary, short or a one-minute plug about the rehabilitation project.
First Session:
31 July 2010; 1-5PM
Venue: Conference Room, ABS-CBN Foundation Building
Succeeding Sessions:

When was the last time you peel off the wrapper of a canned goods or bottled catsup, placed it with your name and contact info in a white envelop and slipped it in a drop box?
You think, it's already Jurassic or something? Well, it might be for the fortunate people who have internet access and wifi-capable mobile phones. But for those who still have faith with the very pinoy pot of gold called drop box, it will never be obsolete.

20 Kapuso stars will play in behalf of lucky home partners who will get a chance to win as much as P1 million in cash and prizes. Four Kapuso stars will each represent one of the five major regions in the country (NCR, North Luzon, South Luzon, Visayas and Mindanao). All 20 celebrities will be positioned around a giant Kapuso wheel comprised of three spinning wheels with three kinds of pies: the transfer pie, multiplier pie, and sponsor's pie.
Five prizes will be given away every episode. One winner of the grand prize will be drawn from the winning region, and additional four home partners from the non-winning regions will each receive P10,000 in cash.

How to join Panahon Ko 'To Text Promo
Back in the late 90's, me and my former employees at Video City main office would spend lunch and break time answering a quiz-type trivia mind benders in Excel files circulating over the internet.
Well, eventually I would create my own "Jologs" trivia game. I even almost published a book called "Who wants to be a Jologs" after I got a deal (verbally) from a publisher but a two-year overseas work was that tempting and I dropped the whole thing.
Today, I know I still have the manuscript in our attic (somewhere hidden between my comic book collections and basketball trading cards). Why am I talking about this? Well, just happen to catch an episode of ABS-CBN's latest game show Panahon Ko "To. Too bad, they don't have an open call for contestants because I would live to try my luck and stored knowledge for this one.
Well, home viewers can still join in the text promo where the show is giving away as much as Php 20,000 daily. Just text PKT answer to the question of the day. I'm just surprise that they will only run this promo until July 23, 2010 since the show has great potentials.
Btw, the show is hosted by Billy Joe Crawford and Luis Manzano. Would have been nice if they include one certified Jologs to butt in from time to time, right?

9th Mega Young Designers Competition
Who wants a career in fashion design?
Well, count me out 'coz the only fashion sense I ever have is to make sure that the color of my shoes matches with my belt.
Mega Magazine will host a go-see on August 11, 2010 to aspiring young designers in the country. I am not sure what's their definition of young since people nowadays can hide their age with just about anything, from shots of steroids to make-up to masks and large hat.
The event will be held at Members Only at The Fort. Interested applicants must present two works (formal and casual wear) and an essay (wow, so you really have to be smart din talaga to be a fashion designer). The theme of your piece should be "Proud to be Me."
To download an application form, just click HERE.
Good luck to anyone from my readers who'll be joining! :-)

Wonder Kid ba ang anak mo?
Every child is a wonder kid in the eyes of his parent.
But if other people thinks the same thing about your little darling, he or she might be the kid that Sony Ericsson is looking for!
Get your video cameras (or video phones or digital camera which I'm pretty sure has a video recorder) and capture the talent of your son or daughter aged 7 years old or below.
A 30-second video could be your ticket to SE generous giveaways: Php 50,000 in cold cash plus a brand new phone for the grand winner. Second and third place finishers will bring home Php 30,000 and Php 20,000 respectively, along with new phones each. There will also be seven other consolation prize winners of Php 5000 each.
You need to up load your entry over at Sony Ericsson FB account on or before August 31, 2010. If I were you, post it asap since the finalists will be determined via online voting (which for sure will turn off some moms and dads but will be another feast for *online cheaters).
As I said earlier, every child is a wonder kid but it would be much sweeter to her from other people, diba?
*based on what I have been reading in some forums.

UAAP Buzzer Beater Promo
It has been more than a decade ago since I graduated college but there is still somethings from school that I still carry today. One of them is my never-ending support to our college hardcourt heroes --- the UE Red Warriors!
From the deadly trio of Ronald Tubid, Paul Artadi and James Yap, I still follow the exploit of my team which are now being led by the backcourt tandem of Paul Lee and James Martinez.
Just found out that there’s a cool new way to root for your school courtesy of Ministop's UAAP Buzzer Beater Promo.
Go to any Ministop branch and purchase a drink in UAAP-themed cups. These special limited edition cups bear your favorite team’s emblem. Each cup you purchase features the team of your choice as the UAAP games heat up in the days ahead. This promo runs until October 31, 2010.
The convenience store chain also has an ongoing raffle promotion where participants have the chance to win Starbucks and Swatch watch gift certificates, Nike shopping sprees and the latest must-have gadget, an iPad. The raffle promo runs until Aug. 8 with the grand draw on Aug. 20.

FREE Admission to Japanese Film Festivals (July - September 2010)
image taken from wikepedia.org |
It all started when I found out that one of the inspiration for the creation of the Toy Story film saga is Miyazaki's My Neighbor Totoro released in 1988. Actually, Pixar even included Totoro in Toy Story 3 as one of the toys. Before you get lost with what I'm talking about, here's two facts about Miyazaki that would sound familiar: (1) he is the man behind the animated series Lupin III and (2) won an Oscar for Best Animated Film in 2002 with Spirited Away.
As of today, I have seen Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro (where our very own Leah Salonga and Hollywood actress Dakota Fanning shared their voices in the English version) and Ponyo (dubbed in English with Liam Neeson, Tina Fey and Matt Damon. I am excited to watch Porco Rosso later.
On my search for his film, I stumbled into three (3) Japanese Films Festivals happening from July to September this year. To get the complete schedule, just go to www.jfmo.org.ph.
Admission is absolutely FREE. I just hope they'll feature at least one Miyazaki film.

Free Wine and Sausages from Tapella
I was surfing the boob tube last night and saw a news clip from a foreign channel featuring the annual event in Navarre, Spain called Encierro or the running of the bulls. It's part of the festival of San Fermin.
Every year, I always see this event even in local news and every year I can't help but wonder when these guys letting themselves being run over by provoked raging bulls will learn. Just to be head-butt by this beast is scary, what more if you got hooked with one of its sharp horns. It's like you're a human barbeque. But still, I salute these people for their love and devotion to their culture and tradition.
Anyways, here in the Philippines one restaurant is giving away a FREE glass of wine, FREE sausage along with a FREE redkerchief if you dine-in wearing all-white on July 9, that's tomorrow.
For more information about this promo, call Tapella (Greenbelt 5) at tel. nos. 7572710 and 7572711.

Eclipse Umbrella from Dunkin Donuts
The Eclipse fever will be on for the next two weeks until a new hit from Hollywood will open in cinemas soon. Hmmm, let's see... how about The Last Airbender which start Jackson Rathbone who incidentally played Jasper in the Twilight Saga.
I saw the movie last Saturday with my wife at Gateway Cineplex 10 (as I said in my previous post) because I want to avail their raffle promotions. But due to the long lines en route to the cinemas, the ticket seller forgot to give me the raffle coupons as explained by the man tending Cinema 3.
"Pasensiya na po sir, baka nakalimutan dahil sa haba ng pila. Balikan n'yo na lang mamya pag maikli na pila," he said. After two hours, I did intend to go back for my coupon but the line did not change a bit. Oh, well. better luck next time.
While on the cab, we passed by a Dunkin Donut outlet in Araneta Center and saw an Eclipse umbrella. You can get it for Php 69 only if you buy at least a dozen donuts. Promo is until July 31, 2010.
One of these days, I'll get one of the three designs for my wifey so we can still bite in to the ongoing movie tie-in promotions of Eclipse
