Winners of the I Love Being a Teacher essay contest

Finally, I have a clear answer to those who joined last year's I love being a Teacher essay writing contest sponsored by Manila Bulletin.

Prior today, I have used all possible explanations to respond to email, online and personal inquiry as to when the winners will be announced.  So now I say... just read the news clipping below and find out if you know anyone from the three winners of the contest.

I Love Being a Teacher because...

This essay writing contest is exclusive for teachers, both from public and private schools, who are currently teaching in the Philippines. Also you should be 22-65 years old. So definitely I am not qualified even if I make a career shift into teaching since I am just 21... hehe.

Seriously, this is a great contest and you should encourage all the teachers you know because they definitely have a lot of stories to tell. This is also a tribute of sort to these heroes that are often portrayed as "titser na nagbebenta ng longgonisa" or "si mam na namamalo"

We have three teachers in the family, all are my in-laws, and I will definitely ask them to consider this contest.

The mechanics: Entries must be written in English (12 pts Time Roman font) and not more than 1000 words. A participant can send as many entries as they want until October 5, 2010 (5:00 pm only). This contest is sponsored by the Manila Bulletin, HP and Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines. Winners will be contacted via email and will be awarded with special prizes.

Although the prizes are not indicated, Manila Bulletin is such a generous company when it comes to giving of prizes. The last essay writing contest they had, they gave away three (3) Samsung laptops for three months.

It's like only yesterday when I posted here the first question of the 3-month essay writing contest launched by the Manila Bulletin in cooperation with Samsung.

Now is your last chynace to win a Samsung Netbook and portable disk drives (HDD G2).

For the July entries, here's the question: In my own little way, how can I help make my country a better place to live in?

The contest is open to all currently enrolled high school, college and tech-voc students, from ages 14-23 years old.

Entries must be written in English using 12 pt. Times Roman font, not more than two (2) sheets of letter-sized bond paper, double spaced. Deadline for submission is on August 10, 2010, (6 pm). Email as many entries as you can to MByouthsection@gmail.com with the subject Entry - For July. Two winners will be announced in the August 17 issue of Manila Bulletin.

Just want to share my "try and try until you succeed" experience

After three entries, I finally won in the joint contest of Philippine Star and National Bookstore "My Favorite Book" Contest.

My entry "What to Expect When She's Expecting" was published yesterday (June 19) and I want to thank them for picking my entry. I consider it as a Father's Day gift from God. Actually, I already got the best gift a father can ever have--- my son Charles.

Well, I was really hoping to win rather than expecting since my entry is about fatherhood. And it did! Aside form the Php 5000 worth of NBS GC that I won, I also have a chance to win in the Top 8 entries to be awarded at the end of the year. Top 3 entries will receive Php 50,000, Php 30,000 and Php 20,000 in cash and prizes while the other five honorable mention will get Php 5,000 each. Manila Bulletin Announcement of Essay Writting Contest

Hi there guys! Apologies for the long "rest"

No thanks to the week-long internet problems that we had with Globe here at Mandaluyong area. It felt like I was living under the rock. I was able to check my emails and this blog through Smartbro prepaid but not enough time and load to browse and post online contests to share to all my readers.

And now, I'm back and will definitely post some of my finds within the day (unless we would again experience intermittent internet connection, Globe have mercy!)

To start off, I am posting the announcement of Manila Bulletin regarding the delay of posting the winners list for the month of May in connection to their Write an Essay, Win a Samsung Netbook contest.

Due to the number of entries, 557 all in all, the winners will be finally revealed this coming Thursday, June 24. And I will surely post it on my blog as soon as I grab a copy of the issue.

Btw, they are already accepting entries for the month of June and the question is:

Same mechanics as last month. The deadline for this one is on July 10 and winners will be announced on July 17 (hopefully, on time this time)
