Join I LOVE FISH Video Contest
Update: Sending of entries is extended until April 7, 2011!
Holy week is just a few weeks times and for Catholics, it's a season of "peace and fish be with you"
What I'm saying is that during these times, we'll see fast food chains coming up with new fish-based products like tuna sandwiches, fish fillets, and the likes. I hope someone would think of launching something different this year like Siopao kilawin or Galunggong burger. I don't know what those suggested food experiment would taste like but something new has always the possibility to be a hit.
Anyways, just in case you have a fish recipe that you want to share, you can actually join the I Love Fish video contest sponsored by Fishta Seafood. You might end up with a grand holiday vacation if you win.
Prizes:
Submission of entries is until March 31, 2011 but you have to make sure to send your entries via courier on or before March 29 to avoid submission delays.
I am definitely joining this contest and will send my specialty Pinaputok na Tilapia as my entry.

The Yahoo Puple Hunt is on!
How time flies. If it wasn’t for my niece asking if she could borrow a mono block chair that she’ll use in their graduation rites practice, I’ll still find it hard to believe that it’s already March. To think I still have a wrapped Christmas present lying on my table because one of my godson did not visit me last December. But no one can stop summer time from coming!
Some of you might have already booked flights to Boracay or other great destinations in the South but I want to make vacation time more productive by spending more time browsing the net and YMs, listening to radio, watching TV, going to the Trinoma and watch out for Hyundai cars passing by the street.
Don't you ever call me a bum if I do it for the next 5 weeks because I will be doing all these things to get a chance to win a brand new car and other exciting prizes. You still don't believe me? You might haven't heard of the Yahoo Purple Hunt 2.0 launched just a few days ago?
WARNING: Joining the contest might ruin your plan and schedule until April 17--- dates with BF/ GF and BFFs, eating habits, movie marathon with friends, Senakulo acting commitment, trip to Splash Island, and what ever stuff you have in mind. But it's worth it for the chance of winning a brand new car. Just ask Calvin Galgana.

Do you think you have a Whapakk Pose?
I remember back in college, I often encounter a dilemma going to school not because I have failed to review for our quiz or finish my assignment. I don't do homework at home. I do it in our school library. I review my notes while on board a jeepney on my way home or going to school. That's the normal life for a working student like me.
My issue then is the fact that I only have two pairs of pants, a few shirts to go along with my Chucks. Back then, I was always on a hunt for GF-material prospects that will be my wife after seven years. I am not vain. I just want to look good in the few options I have in our cabinet. That's why I spend a little more time in front of the mirror and do my astig pogi pose.
Nowadays, they call it the whapakk pose. And if you think you one that can get some attention, I have a good news for you. SanMig Strong Ice has just launched the Whapakk Pose Promo where you can win cases of SanMig Strong Ice and other exciting prizes like jackets and shotgunnators.
The contest is open to Philippine residents aged 18 years old and above. Participants need to have an account in Facebook and "Like" the San Mig Strong Ice Fan Page to join. With a bottle or can of SanMig Strong Ice, do that whapakk pose and it could be your way to a fun-filled drinking spree with your barkada.
Visit the official website of SanMig Strong Ice for more details.

FREE Admission to the Screening of the finest Filipino action film ever made
I have yet to see the film but I've been reading a lot of reviews about Bagong Hari, an action film which was a box-office disaster mainly because it was shown in theaters the time when the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution erupted (Eh, ikaw ba naman nagliliparan na tora-tora at may tangke na sa kalsada manonod ka pa ba ng sine. Kahit may passes ka pa baka ipamigay mo na lang sa kagalit mo e.) It also didn't help when it was graded as Rated X because of the violence in the film.
The movie is a work of the great Mario O' Hara, who is a regular topic in my film class in college. He is the same guy who gave the Philippine cinema masterpieces like Tinimbang Ka Ngunit Kulang and Babae sa Breakwater.
Bagong Hari, which stars Dan Alvaro, Joel Torre, Crami MArtin and other notable veteran actors, will be screened FREE to the public this Saturday, March 12 at 2 p.m., at the Tanghalang Manuel Conde, Cultural Center of the Philippines. I just hope I can find time to catch this film which may be our only chance to see what is said by movie critics as the finest Filipino action film ever made.

FREE Music Lessons and Sports Clinic
Summer time is just around the corner. We'll if you haven't notice it yet, during these time the sun can still be seen at 6:00 pm, that is if you're not living in Antartica.
Btw, talking about the sun... watch out for what scientist call as the Supermoon on March 19 when the big white fellow from above will be in its nearest position from Earth (just almost 300,000 kms. away which is if you estimate is something I might have already covered if only I took time to measure the length I spent walking from all the malls I've been since high school). To sum it up, the moon will appear to be bigger than the usual that might bring higher high tides and lower low tides.
Going back to summer, I got a text from my online buddy Jayson Biadog about his friend Janice Hung of Muzikacademy offering FREE Music Lessons and Sports Clinic for anyone interested. So if anyone out there who has yet to mark anything on their calendars this April and May, you might want to try improving your almost golden voice (Translation: di nasasanla, fancy, tubog lang, etc) or do the Wushu or Tai Ji (Translation: pang-ganti sa mga school bullies next school year or sem).
For more information, just click the two links above :-)

Mapanghingi ka ba? 1st Anniversary Giveaway: Winner ka ba?
Last month, I launched the first anniversary contest of this blog and raised the question: Mapanghingi ka ba?
Only a few dared to answer the question which still does not mean I had an easy time choosing the winner. First, I would like to thank all those who joined the contest and also those who showered me with kind words for the 1st birthday of this contest blog.
I would like to give a special mention to the following entry senders who almost got my nod until the best entry came:
1. Mapanghingi Nga Ba Ako? by Ronald De Lima who sums it up with "Kaya, hindi masama humingi. Hindi nakakahiyang sabihin na umaasa pa tayo na makakuha ng mas-maganda. Humihingi tayo dahil kailangan natin Siya."
2. Mapanghingi ka ba? by Melandria Romero who is also a believer of St. Anthony of Padua. Just like her, I often asked for His help every time I lost something or I long for anything. That's why I named my first son Charles Antony after him. Like Melandria, our child came after a failed pregnancy. Indeed, we should not loose hope after every fall. Just keep the faith alive and soon you'll be blessed. That should be the motto of every certified Mapanghingi.
3. Sino ang Mapanghingi? by Rolly Nuñez who I can relate with. Isa siyang kapatid, kasambahay, kapamilya, at kapuso. Malapit sa aking puso, itinuturing na pamilya, at aking minamahal."
Actually, I was already playing iniminiminimo among the three entries until I got an entry via Mapanghingi ka ba? FB fan page with an amusing and cool video. For his effort to come up with an MTV to show the Mapanghingi side in him, I would like to congratulate Mov'z Gonzales for winning Mapanghingi ka ba? 1st Anniversary Giveaway! Please send me an email at astig316 <@)> yahoo com so I can send you the details on how to claim the prize.
Mov's declared, "Mapanghingi ba ako? Siguro? Oo? Kung willing namang ibigay at libre ang isang bagay bakit hindi mo hingin. Sa mundo natin ngayon, lahat ng bagay may katapat na halaga kaya kung may pagkakataon tayong makakuha ng libre bakit hindi natin subukan huwag lang sosobrahan dahil ang lahat ng sobra alam naman... natin kung minsan nakakasama. isa akong certified na mapanghingi."
Well said, bro. Now, here is his winning entry:
