Modus Operandi sa QC Post Office?

Please share this hanggang makarating sa Post Master ng QC Cental Post Office

Well, commercial break muna sa mga promos and contest. Just want to share to my readers a forgettable experience at the QC post office today.

This morning, I came out from the Quezon City Central Post Office feeling that I have been unfairly served by three staff of the government institution. Well, I just went there to pick up a package from Hong Kong. I thought all is smooth after paying the Php 40 custom fee but it’s not. A certain Girlie Umali of Window 37 said that the item is subject to Php 1,457 VAT on the imported item, which was a wrist watch, even if it’s just a gift from an overseas based company. I told them that I did not buy it. It's a gift. Hindi ako negosyante. It’s just for personal use.

But they won’t release it unless I pay the said amount. Then, a man came into the picture and immediately took the item from me while I am still checking my watch, and made me feel that as if I just stole it from them. Girlie even gave me her office number (928-1667) in case I already have the money.

Good thing, an “angel” approached me and said, “Malaki ba yung fee? Ako na ang bahala kay, mam.”

This lady said that I can have the item for a lesser price but they won’t issue any receipt. We met at Php 500 just to get out of this “tiangge.”

This is no fiction. This happened in the morning of September 7, 2010.

  3. I understand the feeling. I encountered the same thing years ago. That's why it seems more like a trauma for me to claim packages.

  4. naku, grabe naman dyan... abusado. i always buy online thru ebay and i have this wedding ring business that passes thru makati post office but what i only pay is what is stated on the paper, Php40 and they never ask for anything else. abuso yan. i report mo sa imbestigador. or just state your complain there.

  5. It happened to me also when I claimed my prize from channel v (technomarine watch). I declared that the price of the watch is 5k (although its more than that) and they were asking me to pay 3000. I beg-off and said that I only have 700 in my pocket, the man said, make it 800p because we are 4 here and its hard to divide 700. I just paid the amount though I know its not right and its a form of bribery but I cannot do anything about it. Truly, the government should really do something about it. I remember them charging me 500p for government taxes when I won a gift pack from mtv asia. the price is consist of a notebook, a cap and a mousepad so I decided not to get it na lang and after two weeks I got the package for free. hay!!

  6. Hi Bags... Actually, It's also a Technomarine from Channel V which I claimed yesterday.

You're also one of the three winners... yung pangatlo swerte kasi taga-ibang bansa sya. Welcome to the club!

Ang kapal nila no? tig-200 pa sila... it's not bribery since sila nag-offer... it's like being hold-up inside a government building which should be one of the safest place in the country

    tsk tsk

  7. @ Monrey*... thanks for the links... I already tweeted it to PNoy

@ RINOABROOD... para ngang divisoria e... nagbigay last price Php 500

Thanks to all the messages and sana we can share this to our friends to be aware and beware of this modus sa QC Post Office

  12. grabe yun a. may kukunin din dapat ako sa qcpo window 37 e, a product sample from malaysia but then i decided not to claim it. kung ni-claim ko siguro napamahal pa ako. i hope this reaches their higher ups or authorities that would take action. this rotten system really has to stop.

  13. Hi Helen!

  14. Mam tama po yun computation yun P40.00 its just a Customs Duties yun P1,457 VAT ay 12% ng value and freight ng watch. mali yun nagpadala sayo through postal ang ginawa kaya ikaw nagbabayad ng duties & taxes mas madali sana through forwarding like fedex DHL etc. kasi sila na mag transact sa customs i deliver na lang sayo, any imported items po kahit gift lang ay subject to duties & taxes. ang masama lng dun binigyan ka ng option para makuha mo ng mura. yun nga lng para sa kanila na yun

  16. @ Len... well, I hope you got your package smooth and easy
